Help with Black Ops.

I am having trouble with a certain level in the Campain. I am at a bit where i have to help push a door in then a vehicle explodes outside throwing me into darkness. I have no way of seeing anything but the distance indicator which i follow and then i stop about 6mtrs short and i cannot see or find my way through. I restarted the level on a few occasions but end up the same.

What do i need to do to move on.

No, it's at the level where i lower myself down a rope from a helicopter and the heli is shot down and i end up in a building where i end up in a firefight then i have to get the radio from an injured mate and call in the helicopter gunships to strafe some buildings. I then cross the road under fire which is where i am asked to assist in pushing in a door, that's when the vehicle explodes close by and plunges me into total darkness.
