Hi all. Having read some other threads I've come up with this. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions.

I'm looking to spend £500-£600 on a new PC. I want something that can run most games, though i'm not too fussed about being able to ramp everything up to max detail. Obviously on a budget I'm not going to get that.

I also want it to be vaguely future proof and upgradeable. Hopefully to last me a good few years.

I'm not sure whether I want/need a SSD or not. The only affordable one seemed to be at 128GB which I fear isn't much room by the time i've got an OS and WoW installed. I could always use my current hard drive for working files, and I have a seperate server to hold TV programs, music, etc.

Monitor/OS/KB&M not required.

Any comments welcome :)

This build works out at £596.02 which would be perfect for you because it includes a 2500K which you can overclock at some stage when you can afford a better cooler . The PSU I don't really know much about but OCZ do make good PSU's so maybe ask for a few opinions about it .

My build

Can change PSU to OCZ one if you like/prefer. also if you already have a HDD at home you can use as a secondry / dumping drive. i would get SSD. 128 GB is plenty. OS takes around 20 GB, wow is 20-30 GB. that leaves you with 70-80 GB to play with / organize and put your other favourite apps / games on.

Also if you can really stretch your budget and slap an extra 90 quid on, could get an I5 processor, which would put you in good stead for future.

safe to say below could run BF3 on high / ultra settings.

Cheers for the feedback. Have changed it slightly and added an SSD in place of the HDD. I'll use my old one for files.

I think i'll stick with the i3 for price at the moment. Am I correct in thinking the motherboard below will be able to support an upgrade of CPU at some point in the future or would I be better with the more expensive one that dunn2010 suggests?

The mobo you have selected is alright, you can upgrade Cpu at a later date if required. The mobo dunn specced is better suited if you want to install a second card.

As idleman said, its better incase you need to SLI/Xfire at a later date. and has some extra USB3 / 6GB/s sat ports

that mboard you picked can support all the way up to I7 processors

Building this now and I note the CPU doesn't come with any thermal paste. There is however some sort of material on the bottom of the heat sink. Is this instead of a paste?

intel cooler? ye it comes with stuff alrdy on it
just push the pins in and turn
make sure the little white bits go all the way thru^^

Bit blurry as my phone is quite old. Now just need to go pick up a windows disc from my mate and find my mouse. It should be around the house somewhere... Never seen a mouse cursor in the BIOS before!

Nice to see it all come together.
Out of interest, what`s your thoughts on the Xigmatek Asgard Pro. Is it a good case for the price?

Case seems solid. Found it a bit odd having the PSU at the bottom though.

I did find the hard drives slightly awkward to get in. But apart from that everything else went in nicely enough.

Much more roomier than my old case too which is a big plus.

Well, gf has a spare mouse but it, like my keyboard, has a ps2 connector and the motherboard only has one slot. She managed to find a usb converter... but it was usb>ps2. So having to set it up using the on screen keyboard lol

You can get one of them cheaper enough. 80p upwards.:)
