Hey everyone,

I'm currently in the middle of my first build and am slightly stuck in regards to the psu and the motherboard. My psu has a 8 pin connector and is clearly labelled for cpu power, however my motherboard has only a 4 pin receiver. The cable fits fine, I was just wondering if this ok.
It's a Gigabyte Z77-D3H and a Corsair TX 550M.

Thanks!

The 8pin splits in half to make two 4pins? only one of these four pin will fit in to the motherboard.

You only need to fit one half of the 8pin ATX connector into the motherboards 4pin ATX socket. The pins on the two halves have a different shape, so only one half will fit.

You've most likely done something else wrong.

Instead of me trying to guess, can you list EVERYTHING that makes up the parts list of this PC.

I appreciate the help. I used a pretty in depth guide to build. I read I'm supposed to hear a beep but I'm not.

Remove the GFX card (you have tried with both PCI-E power cables into it?)

Plug the monitor directly into the motherboard.

Is there now a display?

Update the board BIOS.

get the latest from Gigabyte UK website.

Extract the file onto a USB thumb drive.

Enter the BIOS and click on Qflash.

Follow the simple instructions.

I'm afraid I don't have Flash Drive right now.

Is there any other way to get around this?

I have a disk that came with my motherboard, not sure how much use that is...

Can install windows and configure the GFX card later?
