Hi,

Im building a computer for a friend and I need the best value for money system really. Its going to be running XP, and used for office work and browsing the internet. It needs to be around £300 - 350 if possible.

I was thinking of going down the route of using an E5200, or is there a better AMD equivalent?

Also im really stuck on if I should get a mobo with onboard vga or buy a £30-40ish ATI graphics card.

Any help would be grateful, thanks.

This is perfectly suitable for what you want. Office work doesnt require a lot of power at all, this is more than whats required.

Onboard graphics are fine for this, should you want a dedicated card later on, you can just slot it in.

Kenny, shipping will have to go on top of that as the op in not yet entitled to free shipping.

At the end of the day if the system is purely going to be used for internet and office then the primo basic ready built system is going to be more than good enough.

Anything more clearly would be a waste of money, the op will also benefit from not having to build it and get free onsite warranty. It's a no brainer imo.

If you need everything and it's not going to be upgraded for gaming etc then just look what you can get in in the highstreet for £299. Spec me threads are good but if you need a mouse, keyboard, DVD, windows etc etc then that that is usually the best route.
