Looking to building a PC sometime in the near future most possibly after Christmas. This will be my first build so a few things are confusing me and I'm just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on any of the components I am interested in or if anyone can recommend anything better for a similar price.
Firstly I have chosen to go down the AMD route. One processor which has caught my eye is the AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1100T Black Edition 3.30GHz Socket AM3. From the reviews i have read it seems to be quite capable and at a good price. I'm not convinced the jump to an I5-7 is worth the extra cost, however I might be wrong.
Secondly, I think the Asus Crosshair V Formula AMD 990FX (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard is another part which looks as if it is worth it. Once again is there anything that would work better or anything for a similar price.
Probably going to go with 8GB of Corsair Vengance ( 2 X 4GB )1600MHz. The one thing that I'm unsure about is if it is worth using 4 X 2GB of something similar. I don't think that any more RAM is worth it but please correct me if im wrong.
Going to go for the Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA 6Gb/s. It seems a good price and a good size. At the moment I don't think I will invest in a SSD mainly due to the fact that they seem to be unreliable at the moment. If there is a well rated SSD out there then i would be interested as this would be for installing Windows.
Next, graphics card's. Not sure at all what to get. The games I play such as R Factor and a couple of similar games coming out in the near future are not the most demanding but I want them to run well. I figure the XFX ATI Radeon HD 6770 1024MB GDDR5 card is fine for the job. If someone could recommend me something better and something more future proof maybe then that would be great. Not ruling out doing a crossfire but it's something that's new to me.
From the reviews I assume that the Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus' Power Supply is going to be enough for what I'm going to run.
Haven't looked too much into cases but I like the Cooler Master HAF 912. It seems to be a good case, good reviews and some good cooling.
Finally the optical drive that looks pretty good is the LG GH24NS70 24x DVDRW SATA. Mainly chose it for the price and it seems to be reliable.
Sorry about the wall of text haha but seen as though this is my first build I want to get it right and get something which is going to be good for the next couple of years. Once again if anyone can help me in terms of suggesting other components.
P.S. Not much of an overclocker buy may consider it. I understand that if i do i will need a better CPU fan so if anyone would be as kind as to recommend one it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
