Hey all, was wondering if any of you good people could give me some advice on a new graphics card?

My 8800GTX has finally came to it's demise and im not to sure which card would best suit my needs.

I dont game at a super high resolution, but i would still like something that will play most modern games comfortably.

Got between £250-£300 for a new card system spec is in sig.

Everythings running at stock.

All advice appreciated:)

6950 and GTX570 are probably your best bet when they are out, but if you can't wait and need a card replacement NOW, then it would be either 6870 or GTX470 at around £200.

And you REALLY SHOULD overclock your Q6600...it will do at least 3.0GHz, even on a nforce board.

Wait till middle of december and get a 6950, should fit nicely into your budget and be around the performance of the 580GTX which costs a ridiculous £425+ if, there are any in stock. Got a bad feeling the 580 stock is being kept low to maintain current price gouging. However, depending on the games you play, this(today only price) or this or this(although I'm loathed to recommend this card as it is also £20 over rrp) should be more than enough power for todays games with the exception of Metro 2033.:)

Ok folks, my good lady has just informed me she's bought me an 23 " Monitor, LG W2361V, looks like a decent enough monitor so happy times, so i might just be gaming at a higher resolution than i thought......Result....anyone any first hand experience with this monitor?

ta much

I know i really should, can any of you recommend me a decent CPU cooler?
With your nforce board, you most likely won't be able to overclock the Q6600 to beyond 3.2GHz stable. Considering you won't be needing high vcore for achieving 3.0GHz (you might even able to do it on stock voltage), you don't really need high-end CPU cooler. Something like the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 or Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus would be more than good enough.

To be honest, IF you are overclock to 3.0GHz without needing to increase the voltage at all, you might even be able to get away with sticking with your stock cooler.

Been thinking about clocking it for a while, i originally bought all the parts with that very intention 3 years ago but hey ho, work was busy and along came my baby daughter.

Was thinking about doing a full new build but thought with crimbo just round the corner i would stick to my old rig.

Really 3.0GHz on my stock cooler? thats sweet although think i'll just get a decent one.
