Hello all,

So i have finally put together my new PC! :D

Motherboard;
MS-7519 MSI Intel P43 Neo-F motherboard

CPU;
E5200 (Dual core - 2.50GHz)

Cooler;
Stock Intel

HDD;
Hitachi 320gb (SATA)

IDE DVD-RW

Case;
******** ACHILLES with 500w PSU

Card;
Some rubbish 32mb PCI for the moment untill i get money for a decent one.

Heres the important part;

Fans;
1x 12cm intake
1x 12cm exhaust (same fan as above)
And the intel cooler.
I have the opportunity to add 2x 12cm fans on the side, one infront of CPU and below this (infront of GPU) Should i add these?
Or i have a 360mm fan and i can just mod the side and put this on :D:D

Some readings off

Coretemp;
Core0 - 43.c
Core1 - 44.c

SppedFan;
Core0 - 48.c
Core1 - 48.c
HDD - 27.c

Are these ok?
Are there any more programs that can help me?

What are good temps and help on cooling

Thanks :D

What is the PSU? Everyone here will recommend you get a decent one because they're safer (less likely to kill components) and more powerful. They last longer too.

No they are not ok, That's if they are idle temps that is, 48c under load would be Groovy baby. :D
Either you are Gay & still have your central heating on making your Ambients to high to start with or your case cooling is Pants, Or both, Which is it, tell me NOW !!!

if those are idle temps then they do look on he high side. Have never had my E5200 under air but at stock under water it sat a couple of degree's above ambient and would load maybe 10-12c above ambient.

I would check your motherboard inst speed controlling the CPU fan and if it isnt check the heatsink is mounted properly.

Them temps are just from posting this and having the internet open, they've risen abit to about 50.c from restarting and just opening the internet again
Speedfan says my CPU fan is at 1750 RPM - Is this Normal.
Speedfan is also giving me; Temp1, Temp2 and Temp3 but i dont know what they're for;
1. 36.c
2. 28.c
3. -128.c [Yes minus?!]

Win Power PSU 500w

HW Monitor is giving me;

Fan; 1754 RPM

TMPIN0- 36.c
TMPIN1- 27.c
Core0- 49.c
Core1- 46.c
HDD- 27.c

Got RealTemp to work;

Core Temperature;
38.c
39.c

Distance to TJMAX?!
56.c
57.c

Minimum Temps (CPU?)
39.c
39.c

Max Temps.
49.c
50.c

I just did a small ftt in prime95 i only did it for 15 minutes because the temps were 97.c and i thought it might damage it.

I'm suprised that the chip didn't throttle and you're pc rebooted at 97c. :eek:

Definately reseat the cooler and use some better thermal paste than what intel provide if you have any.

Better still, buy a better cooler. :D

Adding an additional fan on the side of you're case pointing at the cooler might help also.

It pushes air through the heatsink.

The idea of a good aftermarket cooler is that the heatsink is positioned away from the chip so that air can be pushed through the heatsink to the back or to the top of the case (the top being the option if you have fans fitted to the ceiling of the case).

For example:

Intel cooler pushing air over the chip and motherboard. OK if you want warm air circulating around that area constantly.

3rd party cooler with heatsink away from chip and pushing the air through the heatsink and out the back of the case.

Yeah, an after market would be better, i checked the intel and it wan't even on! So i pushed it in firmly and the temps are now 40idle instead of 50.

Just done a 10min prime test and temps went up like 5.c

Thanks :)

Could you take a look at this please?
It only says 1.6 speed?

My motherboard is an MSI Neo P43.

That is Speedstep you have enabled in the bios.

When you're CPU is idle, it will drop the multiplier to reduce power consumption and heat. When you run an application or game, it will ramp back up to its rated speed.

You can disable this in the bios but many tend to keep it on, even when overclocking.
