Hi peeps,

It's my own fault but I don't seem to be able to resolve it. I downloaded a bogus file the other day and Nod32 flashed up saying it was a virus. I thought it had caught it and protected my PC but it hasn't.

Basically, I keep getting the Internet Explorer "clicking" noise constantly whether IE is open or not, and everynow and again some random audio advert message will play. Very annoying.

I've scanned the system using Nod32 and Spybot from Vista (dualboot, problem is on XP) but can't shift it. Also tried a system restore but no luck.

I've had this before soem years ago and did manage to solve it, but can't remember how.

Thanks. :)

run them from the xp system, try in safemode

disable system restore first

nod32
spybot
adaware
avg antispyware

why did you download it? i can't understand how people still get viruses after they've been stung before..

Ive run Nod from Safe Mode, found more threats but still hasnt removed it.
It was a silly mistake and its been about 3 years since I did something as silly, just lapse of concentration. :(

run all the ones i suggested

avg antispyware is especially good, update them all too

and make sure system restore is disabled, otherwise the viruses can 'hide' in there
