Help with coil whine.

When I had my original whining Fury I was told to get a PSU which was better than my Corsair CS650 - I bought an EVGA 750 P2 and it made 0 difference. In fact, when I finally gave up on Furys and their atrocious coil whine I went back to my 290, which had never had any coil whine but with the EVGA it suddenly did (only faint, but there).

Reading this makes me glad I didn't pay the extra for the P2, The G2 may only be Gold rated compared to the P2's Platinum rating but it's a lovely model with no negative attributes so far.

Was it coil whine or did you have one of the original Fury X's with the whining pump?
 
Well i have a 2nd cpu, motherboard, ram, psu, gpu and storage ready for testing. Just need a CPU cooler as it's a pain in the ass to remove my current cooler.

Had 2x Sapphire Tri-X Fury, 1x Sapphire Nitro Fury and a borrowed Nano, all air cooled, all had horrendous coil whine. Definitely the cards and nothing else as there was no sound/very little sound using some other cards (except for the 290 which seemed to get a bit of whine with the EVGA for some reason)

The P2 is good other than that, the fan doesn't come on too often so it's basically silent most of the time - although when the fan does come on, it's reasonably loud.

PS- Only bought the P2 because at the time it was only about £3 more than the G2, was on a flash sale if I recall, so thought I might as well - it'll save me 3p in electricity each year ;)
