Ok I was overclocking my e6400 got to 3 ghz and was running a stress test ok the CPU when the computer froze no blue screen or anything just froze so I turned of the computer and rebbooted and usualy the motherboard has a feature were if a overclock fails it resets the bios it's self but this time the computer started but the moniter just stayed black. I have tried resetting the CMOS nut to no avail. I just don't no what to do next and I'm hoping wan of you helpfull people could answer my problem

What should I remove hard drive ram? Cd drive can't remove graphic. Card because I have no onboard graphics thanks for your help.

I think stress testing is a bit like red lining your car everywhere to see if you can get it to blow up !

I prefer now to just play a high spec game after all thats what most people want it for ,bar the oc addicts !

I would unplug everything ,turn it all on (unplugged to clear the caps) then leave for 10 mins, reset the cmos again (making sure you're doing it right)and hope for the best .

May I just ask what you mean by un plug everything do you mean everything unexenstial and you said turn it all on do you mean turn the pc on whilst the non escential things are unpluged? Thanks for your help

I've had this happen on my rig.

To solve, turn off and unplug PSU cord, leave for 5-10 mins and turn back on, does the trick.

Only done it to me though when trying to bench at quite high settings though :)

Just unplug from the electric supply then switch on your tower and monitor (unplugged )it clears the electricity that the capacitors hold .

Pauly d do you just mean the cord pluged into the psu? I don't think my CPU is fried atleast because I was watching my temps when it happend they weren't too high

dude just unplug the power cable from the psu...cmon now :p
try switching it on after you have removed the power cable to clear any electricity
leave for abt 10 mins

then plug power cable back in and try switching it on

I have tried new ram but that was just the same don't have other parts to try is there any way to tell if it's my CPU without trying a different one

Ok I put the Cpu graphix card and ram into a older motherboard an case I had and it booted up so does that mean the mother board has died if only had it about a week
