HI ALL

wonder if you guys can help after seeing so many threads about getting fddshow i have now got it but man it is a litle confusing for me lol

i have 19 inch tft monitor so dont want to know yet about outputting to hdtv as i need to rob a bank first for the funds lol

i have a few divx bits and bobs which my kids love watching the problem is the quality

seems to be blurred around the edges quite bad and colour seems a little faded

i am using media player classic by the way

can you please help me with settings to get a decent image please cheers

if its any use my monitor is 1440x900 and i have fit to screen on mpc

thanks guys i tried some settings but tbh didnt have a clue what i was doing lol

Using the upscaling function set the video to 1440x900 and increase the colour saturation in the picture properties. If it's a bit blurred than try increasing the sharpness.

This is the most straight-forward guide I've found:

Work your way through that. I found that under the Resize and Aspect settings of ffdshow, a Lanczos setting of 4 taps gave the best payoff between cpu usage and visual quality.

Zoom Player is an excellent player for avi's and DVD's.

That happens to me if I try to continue play a video right after changing the upscaling settings but its never done it after I've restarted ffdshow.

While I agree that it is possibly the best, most well written guide on the web, the only slight snag is it doesn't always work on every setup.

Which is a shame.

No but you can easily get it to use ffdshow by ensuring that under codecs, raw video is set to all supported. This will enforce the post processing of ffdshow onto avi's played by players such as zoom player

Zoom Player here is set to accept ffdshow filters:
