anyone on here able to modify this stl so it goes from this:

mount.jpg

to something like this:

mount-mod.jpg

this filament holder doesnt clear the filament feeder so need the extra distance.

STL file is here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4756703

trying this in fusion 360 but got no clue if it can be done.

looks like you are using tinker cad. I could teach you how to do this in tinker in probably sub 60 seconds. If you throw me the stl I could do you a little video :) ahh fusion, to be fair you can do this in any tool quite easily and i didnt see the bottom bit of txt. Ill grab the stl and do a little tutorial at some point over the next few days :)

That would be excellent. Thanks for this vince i cant believe you can do it in sub 60 seconds lol.

Haven't done your one yet but this broken bracket was sent with a gg mod kit and the thing is broken... pair of callipers and 25 mins in tinker cad and we are away.

@Vince thanks for that vid, explained a lot to me, i was able to mod the design using your video and tinkercad seems to be excellent and simple to use thanks to how you explained it.

i made some mods however im thinking of modding the pole that sticks out to be able to stick some bearings onto it to allow much smoother movement of the filament roll. any ideas on how to go abouts it?

Ahh I made one with a bearing in before :) second I can look through my models :)

Cant find the one I made but its a modified version of this...

Just import that and mod it in the same way :)

some good design ideas there. wondering if i should get an external filament box that also dry's filament?

I've not got one, havent used my fdm in a while but will fire it up tomorrow for the GG brackets I need, i think they will be better in filament than resin

Tinkercad is perfect for the simpler designs and some of the more complex stuff as well, it's basically based entirely around booleans though so is somewhat limited :). For the more complex stuff fusion and blender are generally my go to :)

You can do some complex bits in fusion and blender and then mash it all together in tinker cad and end up with something like this:

Thats good stuff, your video shows me how to make holes too, use hollowing cylinder set size to 6mm and use it as a drill bit to get required depth and then group everything and it makes the hole.
Understanding this more now.

That's good news! Tinker is easily the best tool for a noob :) Finished my gg bracket re-model.

Thats awsome. With some good measuring its possible to make a lot of fixes for stuff. Also very impressed with the strength of pla when its around 3mm thick

I was so close to cracking out my FDM and then reverted to type and just smashed these out on the resin printer :D

See the end of the spool holder, is it possible to slice that end stop off and make it a screw on type? That way i can alter its diameter and slap on a row of bearings and screw on the end stop to stop bearings falling out. Hehehe

There is there is a screw modifier In thinker, you can use it to both make things that screw and things that get screwed.
