Hey

I'm currently renting and the flat has Electric storage heaters and I'm not 100% confident on how I should work them or if they're working correctly.

They have the switch at the wall, and 2 dials on the top (Input and output) the dials go from 1-6.

Last night I turned all the heaters on at the wall, and set both dials to 4 (which it suggests at the best starting point and adjust for comfort)
Throughout the night 2 of the heaters got hot and were still hot in the morning, the others felt Ice cold.

This is the first time they've been on since we've moved in and I don't know if they're working right so wanted to ask before I contact my landlord.

Thanks

If 2 were cold then there not working,i have 3 in my flat ranging from small to large,i used them last winter for the first time and were fine.

I work nights so its nice to get home to a boiling flat in the morning.

I would get the 2 cold ones looked at before the bad weather gets here.

So inside it's basically a pile of bricks with an element running through them. The charge knob adjusts how hot they get when they charge overnight and the output knob simply adjusts the baffles that let the hot air out and into the room - you can twiddle it and hear them clunking.

There's nothing exciting going on, so if a couple are on but not charging then you need to get them looked at. Depending on the age, the elements can get a bit fragile and can break.

They are also terrible, expect a nice leccy bill!

'Tis true, I had them in my old flat and didn't enjoy them at all. Would be fairly warm for most of the morning but useless by the afternoon and nearly cold by the time I got home from work. Kept the chill off throughout the day at least, but I ended up getting a couple of cheap compact oil-filled radiators to use whenever I was home and just let the storage heaters run on a lower setting so the flat wasn't freezing in the mornings.
