My Girlfriend has just been hit with a £300 phone bill from Vodafone and I want to check the bill in full to ensure all the calls were made by her. I have a copy of the bill in Excel and I want a formula to change known numbers that have been called into names, so leaving (hopefully, if not she needs to use her phone less) a load of calls that aren't in her phone book.

Any idea's?

But then you'd need to build a dozen+ nested if functions for all of them.

If you need to do this more than once, the best way is to build a table of numbers and names. Then, use a VLOOKUP function to lookup the name from the number.

Could be made uber effortless if your phone can dump it's phone book to an xls /csv file. Use that as the basis for the lookup table then use vlookup as above. Hopefully you won't need to key in any data.

Alos, it's always a good idea to keep a little backup of your phoneb ook in this way. My 10year old Nokia can do it, newer phones should be able to as well.
