My first post !!! Hiya ladies, Gents. I got a quick Question. I been playing games on an old no frills Headset and its gone bust now. Sooo I need a new one. I hope to use it for BF2142, BF2, UT2K4, Doom III, Quake IV, UT2K7 etc etc. I’m not quite sure what to get.
I have done some searches on the forums here and found loads of suggestions.. still not sure - I just need some Recommendations of you gents please.
I have the Creative SB Audigy soundcard and I have the Creative GD580 Speaker set - When I purchase the Headset should I plug them directly into the Soundcard or should I plug them into the Decoder for my speakers? As the decoder has support for two headphones so that means I would have to plug the MIC part of the Headset into the soundcard?

My budget is £100 that’s about $200 and 150 Euro. At the moment I think I might get one of the following:-

SPEED-LINK MEDUSA 5.1 Home Edition

SENNHEISER PC165 headphones - USB - Now these are USB if I get these can I connect them direclty to the soundcard? as no point getting USB

Tritton AX360 True 5.1 Digital Audio Gaming Headphones
These are just a few I have seen that people say are great. I'm not an expert so thats why i'm asking you gents.
Hope you gents can help (Very sorry for the long post)
Cheers ;)

Senheisers

i will be getting some of them next year due to the medusa's being a bit crap, do a seach on "Medusa" and theres a HUGE thread about i, its worth a read

by the way , no linking to competitors

got a set of the sennheiser 160's which are apparently the same as the 165 but without the usb part.

i'm very happy with the sound quality and comfort levels of them.

10 times better built than my old medusas which have disintegrated over the course of a year.

Hey gents ! sorry for adding links to competitors. These were just random links I took from google not that I was going to buy from them. I will read the forum rules cheers.
ok thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll be ordering the sennheiser 160. You say they are the same as the 165? can you not use the 165 without the USB ie just plug into your sound card? if not looks like i'll be getting the sennheisers from overclockers.
Sorry forgot to mention is the PC155 better then the PC160? and what do you guys this of the Razor barracuda ?
Cheers

Another vote for the Sennheiser PC160's, had them 6 months and they still sound excellent, very comfortable on the ears too, even after hours of use.

I paid around the £60 mark from a competitor.

Mark.

Steelsound 5H are Excellent for gaming, the mic can be pushed up into the ear for when your listening to music etc and not gaming. Probably a lil heavier than PC160 but i find them very comfortable. There is only 1 snag... the plastic bit where you adjust the size of the headphone is fairly fragile. Mine have a small piece cracked off on both sides although its still in once piece.

Having said that im very clumsy lol. I often swing my chair around when i get up and it catches the 3m wire (which can be shortened by removing the extension) and the headphones end up crashing on to the floor. D'oh!

Anyways sennheiser are also excellent as they are my other headset and i love both. Although i use HD495's but im sure the PC160 will be great just being sennheiser. Cant go wrong with this company's products tbh.

Don't go and buy any cheapo gaming blada blah steel icemat 5.623's

Go and buy yourself a good quality set of headphones and get a desktop mic

Like a pair of good beyerdynamics dt770 pros or something like sennheisers hd555's or something
