Help with getting a new processor

I currently have an amd athlon x4 3ghz.
I thinking about changing to an intel i5 2500k sandybridge or amd phenom II x6
Which would be the best option for gaming ??

I have a gigabyte motherboard and a 700w ccivo power suPply. Thanks for the advice, think I may just stick with the athlon then. Or I may upgrade my graphics card or get some more ram

yeah i know it needs changing :/ it really is crap. least i know now not to buy a power supply on the cheap.

I won't be making that mistake again, I did overclock my CPU yesterday to 3.3ghz and its made a slight difference. I'll put it up a bit more after I get a better cooler. I'll get it after I get an xfx power supply
