I need help with a friends motherboard. I have put everything in and tried a few different components and I get the same screen each time. A black screen with a white _. I've tried it with just a 2140 PSU, a stick of DDR 6400 RAM and a x850XT. I've also took everything out and put it back in. Everything loads up fine, fans, harddrive, disc drives etc, so im thinking the motherboard might be dead. It also makes two short and quiet beeps. Any advice or is it dead? I also removed the battery and put it back in after a few mins and it does the same thing.

He has the corsair 520W so theres definitely enough power, unless it is a dud, as he got it the same time as the board.

PSU should be fine, just makin sure he had a decent one.

Have you checked if the mobo is shorting anywhere and you have the buffers between the mobo and case.

Just make sure that the motherboard is not touching any bare metal. i.e a stray screw.

It does sound like a duff board though, or could be duff cpu, check to see if any of the pins are bent on the cpu, if not it's probably best to RMA the board.

used the CMOS jumper which got it to boot and there was also a problem with the graphics card power but all is working ok now ty :) ;)
