Help with gigabyte z87x-oc

I wish they would make just one bios chip pull out like on asus/asrock,then you could get a flashed chip sent you through the post, makes life much easier

or do what asus do and make usb flash possible (no cpu needed)

and yh id wait till you get 4770k then see what happens

Does the motherboard post at all? it might be possible to flash the bios blind if you put the files on a bootable (MS-DOS) USB dongle and disconnect all other bootable devices. That Gigabyte bios package has an autoexec.bat so it should flash automatically.

I don't have a Gigabyte board but ideally you need to find out if the EFIFLASH DOS utility will ask anything like "Are you sure want to flash?" because you'll be blind you'll need to do things like typing 'y' (yes) by memory. Only thing I'd suggest is whatever happens wait at least 5mins before switching off/resetting as you don't want to do it mid flash.

I wonder if anyone with this board could go through the bios flash steps but not actually start it, just take notes of what exactly to press from boot

its the end key (at splash screen but just spam the key) to use qflash, then enter to enter usb stick, then enter again to flash the bios file, then y for yes than wait

idk if it would work if cpu isn't posting but worth a try

Ok slight problem, got my 4770k this morning and fitted it just now, still the same problem. I reset CMOS and cleared battery too and nothing, still have to push the ignition switch in otherwise it stays on a boot cycle, so a bit ****ed off to be honest. If the 4770k doesn't work then what?

how long did you leave battery out? id leave it a good 30 minutes then try

try with main/backup bios also

if its still doing it its either psu incompatible or the board faulty

try removing the actual cmos/motherboard battery, leave it out 30 minutes then put back in and try

it could be badly borked cmos and sometimes the button doesn't clear it

just pinch together the metal clips and the battery pops up
