Help with graphics card decision

I'll be buying a new PC hopefuly next week (my current one has pretty much died and there's not a lot of point in buying replacement parts). Now I had had the HIS X1950Pro as a good decision, but having anotehr read around in the last 2 days, it seems the current batch are not great, with rattling fans and the cards being faulty on arrival, blank screens and such. Now I am reconsidering which card to get. Do I still go with the HIS x1950Pro and hope for the best, or do I go for an alternative, possibly the Sapphire Ultimate silent one instead. I will not be overclocking either. What will be the best thing to do considering I will be buying next week?

Personally, I would go with the connect one, just because it is cheaper, and I would see the X1950 as a "waiting for DX10 to become normal" card, and overclock the X1950.

BUT, remember, 1000's of these cards are sold, and most people will complain when they have a problem, fewer will say their card is fine. If you have a problem, you can send it back under the distance selling act anyway.

I really would not feel confident doing it. I'd rather have a card that just performs nicely out of the box. A lot easier for me. Overclocking takes time and I just want to jump straight in without having to worry really.

Im building new pc at the mo, decided to wait a month or 2 for gpu. New 320mb 8800 coming out (soon?), and 8600 coming too. Horrible time to be getting new stuff, with loads of new tech coming over next couple of months!

my connect3d is having problems getting thru 3dmark06

its either got psu problems got a brand new 600w artic jeantech or the card... bit gutting after having to have the mobo replaced as well

Connect 3d x1950 Pro should be fine running at 1280 x 1024. Do you have a budget?

Around £130ish. The less the better really. As it stands the Powercolor Extreme silent is at the top of the list. I'd much prefer one with a better than stock cooler and a mild overclock too. I do realize it's probably a bad time to buy, but my system is totally FUBAR and I need a new one ASAP.

I have a Powercolor and would highly recommend it. The cooler is amazing on it, It's really quiet and keeps the GPU cool. If your budget is £130 and need to upgrade now I would go for that card :)
