Hi all,

Today I received my Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GS+ SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-032-GW).

I know my system is old but it does meet the requirements from Gainward.

I have uninstalled my old card and drivers and installed the new card. I have tried the latest Nvidia drivers and also the ones supplied with the card.

The best I can get out of the card is 640x480 and 4 bit colour.

I checked the device manager and it says:

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

I went into the bios and reset the config incase of conflicts but I am still getting the same error.

My specs are:

MSI K7D Master L - 6501
Dual AMD 2400+ MP CPU's
2.5GB Memory
Adaptec 39320 A-R Scsi Card
3X Fujitsu Ultra 320 Scsi Drives
Thermaltake Purepower 680W Power Supply

Everything runs fine with my ATI 9800 Pro but I was hoping this would be one last upgrade on AGP for me.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12) Two devices have been assigned the same input/output (I/O) ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, the operating system, or a combination of the two). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device (for example, if a universal serial bus (USB) controller does not get an interrupt from the BIOS because of a corrupt Multiprocessor System (MPS) table).
You can use Device Manager to determine where the conflict is and disable the conflicting device.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard.

Hi,

Thanks for your help :)

I have the correct power leads all connected and have tried the other suggestions but the card still didn't want to work.

I don't have much on my hard drive so I done a fresh install of windows. After a bit of messing about I managed to get it working with the latest Nvidia drivers. Upgrading from a 9800 Pro has made a big difference in COD 2. Everything is turned right up and still nice and smooth :D

I basically had to take my whole PC apart to fit the card in as it is over an inch longer than my old card. I also had to move my SCSI card as the fan was touching it.

A lot of messing about but worth it in the end.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds to me like you didnt remove the ATi drivers properly, congrats on it working though :)

But most of all, Enjoy your new card :)

I don't think it was that as I removed all the ATI bits n pieces. The weird thing is that the drivers that came with the card will not work and just make the screen go black. The latest nvidia drivers work fine although it tells me it's disabled SLI on startup but I can put up with that.

The only thing I have found is that COD2 is buggy when playing in directx 9 mode. It freezes and my only way out is to press the reset on my PC.

It works fine in directx 7 mode though. Weird really as my ATI card also had problems with the directx 9 mode.

FEAR plays well with everything on full so I'm guessing the problem is with COD2 and not the card.

Still doing lots of testing and playing around but am enjoying the more vibrant colours and faster frame rates etc.

Thanks for your replies.
