Help with Harddrive

OK i have a Maxtor harddrive i put it into my PC when installing windows and it doesnt find it. I start up windows from my other hard drive and windows finds the hard drive and i can use it. But i cant reformat it. Also i wanted to copy my hard drive onto the Maxtor and Maxblast 5 doesnt find it the maxtor drive. :confused::confused::confused:
 
Where are you looking at the drive and what version Windows are you running?

Disk management in an MMC* is the best place to start if you're not doing that already then progress to command line if it still seems odd.

I was on Vista X64 looking in My Computer last night i left it on to do a full format not a quick one and now its a usable hard drive but my pc only says its 190GB when from a 250GB drive i should see about 230??

Yes, should be about 232GB available. What does it look like in Drive Management Console? How big is the partition shown there? What does it show occupying the remainder?
 
fixed :) when i cloned it it made a partition for the space it needed so i just added the rest of the space onto the partition.
