Ah... but did you just copy the iso over to the cd and make a school boy error.. instead of burning an iso image onto the cd? :)

Otherwise try burning it at a slower speed.

Ooops yes
how do i burn the iso image onto the cd ?

Depends what you are using.. but I think with nero or cdburnerXP (if you are burning from windows) somewhere in the menus above there should be something like:

Write disc from ISO file or Create disk from ISO

ok stuck again
all goes ok untill after reboot
it asks for the username and pw i enter them then i get a dos like window
any ideas??

He said he got the server version. The server does not install a GUI, is it's not really necessary in a LAMP setup.

FENIX, what are you looking to do? Do you want a desktop OS or a server?

EDIT: LAMP, by the way, stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP.

servir != desktop
You could install KDE etc, but as y beginner you might find it easier just to install a desktop distro from scrath (I reccomend KUbuntu)

downloaded the desktop vir and made a disk image
last time i just unziped it all to cd then wondered why it would not work Ooops

Thank you all for your help
