Help with installing a PSU, please

So I've bought a new PSU from overclockers. I've installed PSUs before and I thought that I had connected everything correctly. But I get no juice when I try to switch the computer on. So, clearly, I've missed a connection somewhere. Here's what I have connected:

The mains connector on the motherboard, along with the little 4-pin connector that sits alongside it.

CPU1 connector. The power supply has a cable for CPU2, but I don't have an equivalent 'socket'.

Power connectors for my 2 optical drives.

Power connectors for my 3 SATA hard drives.

Both case fans are connected

Is there anything else that needs to be connected up?

Sorry i have no idea where it is, have a google for your board, locate it and just make sure its firmly seated. It'll be a small 2 pin plug most likely, or a block, leading to the front of your case.

Actually on all boards i have worked on, those headers are located at the bottom of the motherboard near the front of the case.

Nothing lights/spins up even briefly?

Which PSU is it & (maybe) specs...

Check nothing else has gone loose & is firmly inserted, especially GFX.

But don't rule out the PSU could be DOA :(

On the bottom left side is called 'f panel'..the case power button goes to there. It might have come loose.

Have a look at the piccie on this page. Down the bottom left side.

Okay, I believe that I've found the cable that runs from the power button. It is black and red and has a 2-pin connector labelled POWER SW. I'm still not sure where to plug it in to. The nearest connectors to 'f_panel' are the ones that run alongside it (between 'f_panel' and 'sys_fan'). Is it okay to just plug that 2-pin connector into any of those pins?

Okay, I've found my motherboard manual and I believe that I have connected the power switch cable to the correct pins, as shown on page 28 of the motherboard manual, which can be found here. But the damn computer still won't switch on!

Can anyone think of anything else?

1. Try a different kettle lead to rule out a dead fuse.

2. Disconnect all power leads except the two motherboard sockets (24pin + 4 pin) and try it again.

Turn the pin around, you might have the polarity the wrong way

Not sure but I don't think polarity is an issue as the power switch should just be SPST. In any case I always assume red = +ve and black = -ve and that works

I know that the 'kettle lead' is fine because when I flip the power switch at the back of the case, I can hear a faint hum - so I know power is coming from the mains to the PSU.

I tried the power button cable facing both ways, and neither worked. Nor is the power button stuck. I can hear and feel the 'click'. I don't think that the Reset button is stuck either.

I've also hooked up my old PSU in the same manner, and my computer won't switch on then either. So there must be some problem with my 'technique' in wiring the PSU up.

This is kicking my ass. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. I get absolutely no juice to my computer: nothing lights or spins up, even briefly.

Get a power supply tester... see if your PSU is outputting at all.

I would suggest shorting the pins to test it, but seeing as you dont seem overly familiar with hardware its best left to a testnig device.
