Hi there,

I downloaded itunes, connected my new touch and then pressed sync (well it did it itself) now its trying to add my whole libary to the touch, which wont fit......

Also when I try and stop this and drag my own music from my iTunes libary it wont let me, and the Touch's music list is greyed out.

Anyhelp?

Thanks.

Turn off auto sync

Go to your iTunes library, and click on your iPod under "Devices".
At the bottom of the screen, and little box called "Options" will come up. Click on the second box (Sync only checked songs and videos) so there is a tick in it.

I can't believe how difficult I find Itunes to use, its like they thought of the obvious way of doing things and did the opposite.

The first time i ever used it i was ready to give up completely with it.

Now i use it more often it is simple but generally a pain initialy

Try a program called MediaMonkey then, works with iPods and does the job so much better than iTunes (for music at least, you still need iTunes for apps).

All you need to do is tick 2 boxes. Why is that so hard?

Ipod appears in left hand menu of itunes > click on it > this brings up a summary page
Tick this box:
Manually manage music and videos

Untick the box:
Automatically sync <yourname's> ipod when connected.

Now that wasnt hard was it?

I'm not saying its hard, its just not the way I expected it to work. I assumed you would have a folder with your music in it and a device to drag that music to. I think it did used to be like this, but the last time I reinstalled Itunes the device was set to be managed by Itunes, I had to go to the internet to find the reason for my inability to copy files. And yes its easy to check/uncheck the button if you know that buttons there.
