So i recently ordered a 980TI on the MM for a friend of mine. He has installed it and it's running games fine.

However since installing the graphics card into his system he has started getting ridiculous audio issues. His Logitech headset is now making cracking and popping sounds. My concern is that it may be the power supply but i am not sure. It is a older psu a 850w antec unit. And is not 80 plus rated. The audio issue only happens with his headset it does not occur with his speakers.

Any ideas :)?

How does the headset plug into the computer? If it uses the audio jack then could be more sensitive to EMI than speakers would be.

I can understand the thought of the PSU causing the problem but it could also be Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI). It is worth ruling out if nothing else. Try moving the GPU to a new PCIe slot. Also try as many other headphones as you can in the computer.

Other than EMI the only other thing I can think of is drivers. Perhaps the audio drivers for the headphones don't play nicely with the new graphics drivers. Sometimes software can be the problem as well.

PSUs can be expensive, not worth replacing it if there are other things you can rule out first.
