Does anyone on here use keypass as i could do with some info. I'd would like like keypass start when windows starts and the master key stored so i don't have to type it in, is this possible?.

I've never tried this myself, but you can get it to start when windows starts. Got to options > advanced > integration and tick Start Keepass at Windows Startup. For reference I am using the non-professional (classic) edition v1.28. Then if you create a database that uses a key file only and make sure the file is always accessible this should work. You can also set Keepass to open the last used database on startup which should then make it seamless.

This kind of defeats the purpose of securely storing your passwords in my view though, as anyone who knows your Windows password will then have access to your Keepass database.

^What he said, this seems like a really bad idea.

Generally yes, but if Windows is secured and he uses it across different platforms or computers (where it is locked), then that's fine by me.

Keepass doesn't need to be used for its security - it can just be a password database - I bet many still use a text document! Not something I'd be willing to do personally, but different folks and strokes and all that.

That said, if you're syncing Keepass databases, the database needs to be closed or locked to update it - it won't update if Keepass has the database unlocked.

Dropbox will sync the database after the user clicks save. No need to do anything else.

Yes it will sync to the cloud, but it won't sync to the other device* if the database is unlocked. So if you accidently change the database on both devices (happens more often than I thought), you'll end up with 2 databases, one with a suffix.

* Windows PCs in my case - I've never edited the database on Android, only read it

Getting access to an account if you've got local access to the computer is simple, may as well just use excel then as far as I'm concerned. Each to their own blahblahblah

If the database is open on both devices it won't sync, but you can edit the database on android and it'll sync instantly even if its open when you hit save.

I know, but if he's the only one in the house (and keeps it locked on other devices), or the others aren't at all computer savvy, then who cares? You could get burgled of course, but let's not get into that.

As I say, I know some who continue to use a text document, despite my protestations.
