Hi all,
I was just driving home and got within 50m of my house and suddenly the worst metallic squealing noise i've ever heard started coming from my car. I immediately pulled over and checked underneath but couldn't see anything. I starting driving again and the squealing resumed. I then reversed a little bit and heard something fall from the car and the squealing was gone. I put this down to a stone or similar stuck between the pad and disc.
After parking outside my house and checking the car, and nearby area, I noticed a pool of fluid where I had originally pulled up and a trail leading to my car. It is still leaking from underneath now right in the middle of the car just behind the cat. The only thing I could think of from that area would be brake fluid so started the car and pressed the brake - this went nearly all the way to the floor. I pumped it a few times and it went solid but after 10 seconds or so it was soft again and needed pumping. This doesn't seem right to me but can't say i've noticed the feel of the pedal much right after starting the car.
I rang BMW emergency services and they suggested it could be condensation off the air con, I though this myself but thought that is usually at the front. I took the pics below (best I could get!) can anybody confirm that this is air con condensation or do I need to get back onto them?
Cheers
