Help with making an official complaint.

Gotta say, FO3 ran pretty flawlessly for me.

In fact, I would go as far to say that considering my mediocre PC specs, it was a very well coded game for it to run as well as it did.

I guess some folk are lucky and some are not.

It was the same with STALKER : Clear Sky. Mine ran almost perfectly from day one, but if you looked at the official forums there were hundreds of people with major issues running the game.

Strange.

With a game the size of Fallout 3 there are always going to be bugs but I am another happy player with almost 50 hours (Where did all that time go!) and nearly completely bug free.

I had frequent crashes after picking up dogmeat but I put him down and the game rarely crashed since.

The best evidence I can give for people having problems is the official forum section:

http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showforum=35

You can see from the earliest threads just after the game releases (October) people had the same problems we do now 4 months later.
321 pages of various problems with no fixes.

Its ok, I dont need evidence for people having problems. I know that some will have problems, every game ever released has had some people who encounter problems. Its the nature of software, thats specifically why forums have "Hardware and Software Issues" sections. I am merely saying that I wouldnt be expecting too much success with an official complaint given that there are millions of people playing the game without problems as well. It would be different of course if everyone wasnt able to run the game, but with so many people playing the game without problems, any official complaint will quite likely be waved away as "non-indicative of the overall consumer product"

Not had a problem here either :)

It is quite unlucky when a game doesn't work on your system, I have had such games in the past. Some were fixed by reinstalling the OS, as there was something seriously wrong. Perhaps this might be the case with you?

This may sound ridiculous, CRAZY even.. perhaps I deserve to be in an asylum for this next sentence:

When I pay for something I expect it to WORK!

Obviously, there's always going to be problems with software especially with an infinite amount of different rigs and system setups, but 4 months down the line since release and they haven't even addressed the issue is preposterous.

Moderators have locked my topic on the official forum on the grounds that petitions are not allowed on their forums.. basically criticism towards the company is not allowed

I love Bethesda for making games I really enjoy, but like most companies their customer relations are extremely poor and their committment to their products are equally poor.
Post your PC hardware specs here, gfx driver,OS & direct X versions and people can try to help you as many are skilled in this and happy to do so.

However, your making yourself sound a little silly with sweeping untrue statements about this game as like many I have found it to be perhaps the most stable new release in a long time. It had an intermittent CTD problem with ATI drivers on some rigs but that is more an ATI issue than Bethesda. Fallout 3 is a superb game and very well coded IMO on the PC (which is also technically & otherwise the only one worth bothering with).

Along with posting your spec (including any overclocks) why don't you give us an idea of what sort of issues you're having, they may be things that others hve successfully sorted out.

As for myself F3 has only crashed twice in 3 play throughs.

I had never had a problem with FO3 then did a fresh install when I replaced mobo and cpu and the game fell apart, lucky to last 2 mins without a crash. Installing an older driver fixed this for me latest Nvidia wasn't good.

My suggestion would be to take it back to the place you bought it for a refund. Well, it would have been my suggestion 4 months ago; in all likelihood they won't take it back now.

Trying to get a company that is shipping games in the tens or hundreds of thousands to fix a bug that affects relatively few people without being able to reproduce the problem is wishful thinking. It makes more sense on their part to ignore the problem at the risk of losing a few sales and a few customer service points.

I guess your only choices now are to keep lobbying them to fix the game, figure out if it's a hardware or software problem on your own, or try to persuade them (Bethseda) to give you a refund as you are unable to play the game.
