p5q-pro motherboard with q6600 @1.40v

2x2gb kingston hyperX pc2-6400 c5 800mhz ram

running at 8 x 380 ~3.04ghz bios memory settings on auto (5,5,5,15 i think)

ran cpu-z last night which reported the memory as running at pc-5300 speed

i have had problems with not booting into windows when i have tried to run say at 8 x 400

any advice on what manual settings (and what voltage) to use to have the memory running at a 6400 speed?

(just moved from s939 and the bios overclocking settings are a bit confusing)

cheers!

I assume you are looking at the SPD tab. You need to be looking at the Memory tab, and it will show that the mmeory is running no slower than the FSB, so atleast 380mhz (or 760mhz in reality). That's pretty close to PC6400 speed. You can try setting it to the next highest memory ratio (1:1.2 IIRC), but that'll probably be too high for the memory to handle.

NB is probably a bit high for 400mhz.

I would set PLL, FSB Term and the NB to +0.02v above their lowest manual setting (1.52v, 1.22v etc) and see how that works. You can leave the SB on auto.
