Help with Messenger

I've just signed up to Windows Messenger, never used it or anything like it before! In my user profile on OCUK is the Windows Messenger Handle the same as MSN Messenger?

If it is OCUK is telling me that my handle is invalid!

HELP!

are you putting in the e-mail address or the screen name?
