Help with Minecraft Multiplayer ??

Can someone please tell me the easiest way to set up a multiplayer game on minecraft as im kinda new to it and me and my mrs wanna give it ago together?
Also how do we mod as i tried copying the maps into the mod section and have nothing, sorry in advanced for being such a noob

Hamachi if its lan, but if you want over the internet its slightly more complicated.

As for multiplayer playing mods, theres a thing called bukkit that edits the game and you can download all sorts of plugins for it. You cant have any single player mods in MP. Some work but it requires you both to have it. Gets very fiddly and annoying. Best bet is to set up a server on hamachi and go. If you need help setting up a bukkit server, ask on there forum! They have the best support. Not that OCUK dont. Its just your better of going to them direct

What do i do under the add server settings ive tried putting my hamachi address but says cannot find server

Dont bother with that hamachi rubbish. Minecraft is so easy to setup a server for.

Unless you have a super slow PC with 1GB of RAM go here and download the minecraft_server.exe file. Then run it. If you are playing over LAN then you can access the server by typing "localhost" into the server address box in the game.

For added fun:
Wherever you run the minecraft_server.exe it will put a file called server.properties. Open it with notepad and use these commands to easily customise your server. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Server.properties

remember you will need to port forward the 25565 ports. That can be difficult depending on the users knowledge on port forwarding.

cheers peeps ill let you know if i have any luck, whats the port forward for will it not work over the net if not, i know how to forward ports (unfortunately i have to do this for COD)
