Hi all, need some help for my mum

Her MX-5 needs a new exhaust, she bought one off ebay but it was wrong.

I have a picture comparing her exhaust to the one she bought:

It has gone back but she still needs a new exhaust, can some one point me in the direction for the correct one for her car.

Details:
R registraion
1.6

ps once I solve this problem I have another question about hydraulic tappets on the MX-5 ???????????

look on an mx5 forum for someone that has replaced their standard one with a different one and needs to sell..

or buy from that site

I believe there are 2 different length cats on the MX5 MK1, so you will need to measure your cat, and then get the exhaust accordingly, OEM copy exhausts are normally £170 ish, I picked up the MX5 parts exhaust for £90 last week from MX5Nutz, its SS exhaust and sounds awesome, it is a bit loud mind.

I think the 1997 model comes with the shorter cat.

There are 3 cats.

370mm (All jap imports and UK cars 1989-1993)
440mm (1993/4 to 1996)
470mm (1996/7-1998)

Your mum need an exhaust for the big cat, they are availible from MX5 parts but the choice is more limited in terms of aftermarket noisy jobs, which i am sure your mum is not after.

Any kwik fit type place will be able to check the system and find one, or try online.

EDIT: Another option is to get a downpipe and cat from and earlier car and then it will fit (although this is the most extreme way).

An OEM copy plus fitting should be no more than £150.
