Hey all,

I've had a Seagate Freeagent Desk 1TB for about 2-3 years now and its just stopped showing up on 'my computer'. It hasnt been knocked or moved prior to this.

The model is 9ZC2AG-500.

When powering up, the HDD makes the usual loading noises but the front light does not light up.

I've changed the USB lead, I've tried it on a different computer but still nothing.

Device manager doesnt seem to show a driver so i'm stuck.

Any ideas? - Cheers

Had a few for recovery, only bet really is to take the hdd out to recover data as the USB controller probably kicked the bucket. Will invalidate warranty but the actual drive is likely good.

this is what i was thinking, what am i to expect inside?

Like, will there be connectors that i could connect directly to my PC? (effectivley making it an internal drive)

Or am i talking rubbish?

It will be a standard PC drive in an external case with a small board for the HDD to USB interface.

It will connect straight to your pc internally

You should find a standard hdd inside, which you'll be able to connect to your pc :) Fingers crossed theres nothing wrong with the drive

Okay Ive taken the HDD out of the case, put it into my computer and still nothing :(

Neither windows or the bios is showing it. Ideas folks?
