Hi All,

Having a bit of an issue with my network and wonder if peeps could help out please.

I have just purchased an additional giga switch to sit in the front room, I connect the TV, TV Box, & Powerline to this and all is fine...I then connect 2 cables which go into a double socket in the wall, this then goes into another switch in the loft which in turn powers 2 sockets in my new manroom/office...once these are connected the network goes down and no internet etc.

Nothing is currently connected in the man room as it is still needing to be decorated...

For whatever reason am I doing something wrong? The switches are all unmanaged, do I need to ensure the switches are connected to the same port numbers? I.e. Switch 1, port 2 musty be in port 2 in switch 2?

Hope this makes sense!

Ahh OK, so plug one in and the switch in the loft will ensure both sockets in the man room are active?

Yes, but it sounds like the switch upstairs isn't really required. The two cables from downstairs could connect directly through to the two sockets upstairs.

The switch is there to supply other rooms upstairs if ever required in the future.

It'd be ok if you could configure the two connections in a trunk/bonded configuration, e.g. LACP, but your switches may not support that.
