Hi.
We have what could be described as a couple of houses knocked together for our fire station at work so thickish walls and a fair bit of wiring and heating pipes etc around. Our Virgin Media broadband currently has a hub 3 I think which we've placed in modem mode and hard wired to an old Asus RT-AC87U. This gives reasonable wireless to the side of the building it's in. But pretty lousy to the far side. I've tried adding another Asus RT-AC68U as a wireless repeater and it keeps dropping out. Would I have better luck placing the Main Asus in the loft space wired directly to the Hub and place the other Asus in the adjacent loft (one single skin brick wall separating them. And wire a back haul and try a mesh set up with them?
Any advice appreciated

Thanks in advance.

If you’re going to the effort of wiring backhaul, use proper Access Points and keep the VM as the router and switch off its wireless.

With it being a firestation do you have a MSP / IT support contract with a local company? Would be worth getting them out for a site survey to work out where your deadspots are and look at supplying 2 or 3 AP, 1 for each 'house' so to speak.
