H, I'll be moving into a 11 bedroom house in a fortnight and need to get the networking side sorted out ASAP. The hopuse is wired up, with ethernet to each room, the problem is I have no idea what else i'm going to install. I'll need 11 wired connections and possibly wireless. I'm planning on setting it up like this:

phoneline - modem - switch - ethernet to rooms.

I'm just wondering whether i can use a switch to connect to the net through this method as well as being able to share files over the network or if i'll need a router. If I do need a router, could I use my existing wireless router and attatch the switch to this to get 11 wired connections as well as wireless?

Thanks,
Rich

Modem>Router bit can be slimmed down to just Router as it will also contain a modem for ADSL.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated. So just, phoneline -> modem -> wireless router (with 4 wired ports) -> Switch -> workstations?
Did I include modem in my reply! :p

Your router should have a WAN port into which you plug your phoneline - ie, your router is a cable modem w/ router w/ integrated wired+wireless switches. Deep breath! :)
