Well i have £1000 saved up, use any of the parts above and spec me a beast, put together what you can and if there is spare add a case
dont need operating system or hard drives really although ssd would be nice ;)

your help would be appreciated joe :)

No but you mentioned the old case was too noisy, you can get a cheaper one, could get slightly cheaper mobo too, hows this look?

Re gfx card it depends, if youre not struggling with anythign youre using atm then no its not really worth it, if you were going to up it Id go for a new 5850, which at £200 means you'd have to sacrifice other areas of your build

is there much difference in them mobos??
looking at the 800d case, it is very nice haha
again graphics card?? any need??

Hi welcome to the forum mate,

I've been looking for a similarly priced system too,
check out my thread
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18073937

I dont think you need to spend £200 on a case to be honest...looks amazing but honestly ?? Better of getting a better graphics card.

The UD5 is a good motherboard but if you dont plan on overclocking or dont require Nvidia SLI or Xfire you could get away with something less expensive like the UD3, Asus P6T SE or Foxconn Bloodrage GTi.

Could save a bit on the SSD too but its a nice touch...

(as you can probably tell from trying to save money, I wasnt a student too long ago)

In that case you could stick with the Gigabyte UD5 which sounds like its a solid overclocking board.

For a graphics card, if your not into the latest games at high res. you could think about the 4890 which ~£150. Prob. offers best bang for buck at the moment.

No theres not much difference in the mobos in terms of performance but the aus rampage gene is mATX (smaller) so can become cramped if you use lots of expansion cards
Only you can answer the question about the gfx card, as I say if you arent struggling with any games atm then Id say no, given your initial post you seemed to want a work machine, hence the focus on this, if you want a more balanced gaming machine it can be done but you'd be sacrifcing some performance power when it comes to your editing/rendering etc

nono work is the key, i just wondered if the graphics card would help with the work??
my gfx doesnt really struggle so i am not bothered about upgrading that
would you be able to get a decent size and quality screen in there for that price?/

not much, your load times would be longer, but that wouldnt really efect you once youre up and running, where as I assume youre using an old monitor atm, in which case the new monitor would be much more beneficial given your uses

Yeah, a monitor is a better use of money than an SSD. (Although in an ideal world you would have both!)

righty, anybody else got anything to recommend, you guys have covered it well, i dont know if your allowed to say on here but how much do you think i should be looking at for my old parts
can someone run up a final basket

just to check, but is my psu strong enough, how much further would that let me upgrade (as in adding hard drives and gfx maybe)
