We have a Canon EOS 1300D DSLR Camera with EF-S18-55 DC III F3.5-5.6 Lens - which has been a great starting point but the lens is limiting (having to be close to subjects to get decent shots).

Can you recommend a lens that would allow us to take pictures from further away (up to 15/20m) and be able to zoom and capture great shots? I don't understand a lot of the jargon used in lenses!

I've seen the 'Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Lens' for about £100 - would this be the one for the job?

If you are shooting handheld you will likely benefit from some image stabilisation. I would recommend the Canon EF-S Telephoto Zoom Lens EF-S - 55-250mm - F/4 - 5.6. Will blow your budget out of the water a bit if you buy new but you may get frustrated trying to use a telephoto lens without IS...

You can pick them up used for circa £100...........

This one new looks ideal. The IS sounds like a definite requirement as it will be hand-held most of the time.

Thanks again. Ill check out that Tamron one as well. Cheers.
