help with o/cing E8400 C0

You'd have to remove it before reapplying - also, be careful not to apply too much.

As for the bios settings the gigabyte x48's are very stable (my x38 is similar) so all i would start trying is upping the cpu voltage to between 1.3v and 1.33v (try the lowest first and work up).

Also, your DDR2 will need to go slightly beyond its rated speed (why i have PC8000) - you only have 800mhz DDR2 so it will need to run @ 421mhz to get the e8500 to 4ghz.

i forgot to mention when its on idle that it has about 10 degreese difference on load its only 7 , 5 degreese difference i have oc it so far to 3.90 ghz and running orthos for about 25 mins so far so good. i have also run occt and it says stable for an hour and i have also run prime for about 10 and it seem to be ok , on load with orthos im getting temp 52-58 with core temp and with real temp im getting 45-52 would you say this is a safe temp ?? and the vcore is 1.33125 v and by the way how to change to 421 mhz of the ram frequency??

i have a freezer pro 7 cooler and i did remove it because i had a new power suply to put in to work with my new graphic cards , what are the setting in bios to get 4 ghz stable and safe temp? my cooler is secure and seated i check the 4 pin and it looks like its in im thinking maybe not enough thermal paste , if i buy some thermal paste should i just apply over the layer cause i just recenty got this pc or i have to remove the thermal paste on their already before applying the new one?
Remove all the thermal paste, then put a blob the same size as a grain of cooked rice on the centre of the heatsink, spread it about as evenly as you can with a piece of plastic and then take either an old credit card or stanley blade and use it to create an even surfaced spread that is so thin you can almost read the cpu markings through it.

i have manage to reach 4 ghz but iam a bit concern with the temp on load with orthos it runs from real temp : 44 :49
with core temp its 50:58
running orthos
idle it runs
23: 32 with real temp
28:36 with core temp

with prime 95 torture test
real temp :45:50
core temp:50:54

Vcore voltage is 1.37500 v

please let me know if this is safe ??? and if not how can i bring the voltage down and keep it stable wether upping the ram or something!!!
