I thought I should give it a go and see what I can squeeze out of my current system.

I would be most grateful if someone who knows more than me about overclocking to review my current rig and settings (If you require any more info, please let me know).

CPU CLOCK RATIO [8]
CPU HOST FREQUENCY [400]
DRAM TIMING [5-5-5-15]

SYSTEM MEMORY MULTIPLIER [2.50x]
DDR2 OVERVOLTAGE CONTROL [+0.40]
CPU OVERVOLTAGE CONTROL [1.375V]

Thats the best I can get it, hope it helps and is more viewable.

I have 2x "GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 CAS4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kits (GX22GB6400UDC)".

As you can see I have 2 of these kits installed, thanking you for your help.

I appreciate all your help so far and I am really enjoying overclocking my rig and I am supprised at the savings of this and some of the results you all achieve here. :)

How much would you advise to increase the settings each time of each overclock?

Many thanks all, i'll keep you posted on my achievments and I hope you don't mind me coming back to this post if I require more help.

Many thanks :)

Many thanks :)

Is it normal for CoreTemp to state the CPU is at 3600MHz (450.00x8.0)?

I've read that Vista shows this incorrectly along with many other programs. So, can I assume the same problem exists here?

Should I leave the memory timings at 5-5-5-15 or can these be changed now that I'm using the x9 multiplier? Also is it okay to up the CPU overvoltage to 1.625 as that would be the total if I upped it by 0.25? I think I have that correct.

Just wanted to verify a few things;

My CPU is running at 3600.0MHz with temps at 51 degrees/c @Idle.

I changed the Multiplier to x9 and left the CPU Host frequency at 400

I set the CPU Voltage to 1.4000v

CPU-Z shows Core Voltage as 1.360V?

I wanted to double check as it seems quite a big jump from 3.2 to 3.6 and am not sure if 3.6 on air is a good idea or not.

What temps should I be safe with at idle and what temps should be safe to goto on both idle and load?

Should I lower the CPU Host frequency, or just stress test as it is?

Sorry to sound like a noob but I am :(

Many thanks for all your help and patience

I apologise, I missed what you stated.

Do you think it would be worth running Prime95 as it is now or would that be to risky?

What I have noticed but may not be relevant is that in Resource Monitor I am getting 100 hard faults a second (seems to be from SVChost).

Whilst typing this it all seems to of settled right down to 0-1 /sec

Tho you can try it and see. The worst that can happen is your computer will reboot.

Yup, System showed the BSoD and rebooted. Going back to 9x360, I'll keep you posted. Temps seems to be at 51 degrees/c @ idle. I'll stress test for a while and let you know the outcome.

Temps seem high, I also wanted to check if the System Memory Multiplier should be 2.00 or 2.50 (Current Setting) or shall we leave that for the moment.

I applied enough to cover the cpu, also speedfan seems to give very different results.

Speedfan shows 37 @ idle where as CoreTemp shows 50. I thought it was strange as my bios shows the same as Speedfan.

All of my case fans are set to low speed, do you think increasing this is worth while also?

The reason they are set to low is due to noise and the Antec Gamer Case has a few. The huge fane on the top seems very quiet whatever but it's mainly the 2 front fans which seem to get noisy. :(

I'll re-apply the paste tomorrow and increase the fans to full and keep you updated. My room is rather warm and I doubt that is helping matters. I will also see if I can move my rig as it is currently in a desk compartment with little room at rear and above so airflow could be an issue also.

I'll sort things out tomorrow and thanks again, you have been a great help.

I was wondering, should the cpu fan be drawing hot air away from the heatsink?

My fan is drawing hot air away directly onto a case fan which of course is sucking the air outside, I'm unsure ut is this correct?

After reading, it seems that the fan should draw hot air away from the heatsink. so, I will keep it as it is for now..

Seems better cooling but is it good enough?

I also had the CPU Fan on the wrong side of the heatsink and it was sucking air rather than drawing air. So, I was basicly drawing hot air from inside the case onto the cpu :(
Think all is okay now.
