So I installed some freeware today and learned the lesson that you should always be careful what you choose to 'express install' because this POS installed something called 'Yahoo Community Smartbar' on my PC.

It hijacked my browser homepage and wormed its way into virtually every page I visited (e.g., inserting shopping links into the page's image links). I tried to uninstall it through control panel and managed to get everything except the main Yahoo Smartbar thing. It no longer seems to be inserted into my browser but it's still there in control panel.

How in the hell can I get rid of this thing once and for all? I tried Revo and it seemed to catch a lot of stuff, including getting rid of various reg keys, but the bloody thing is still in control panel after a reboot!

Edit: oh, and I did a full scan with Spybot before trying Revo and that didn't work either.

Every browser! It got into Chrome, Firefox and IE (not that I ever use it). I eventually got it by running the following:

Malwarebytes
AdwCleaner
