Help with potential upgrade/ new build

Hello All,
Current system:
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
Geforce GTX 770 2GIG
Antec Fusion Remote HTPC Case - Black
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ)
OCZ Agility 3 60GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive (AGT3-25SAT3-60G)
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9)
BitFenix Shinobi Gaming Case - Black
BeQuiet Shadow Rock Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM2/AM2+/AM3

Had most of the above from 2011, barring the GPU upgrade. Noticed most games now Im struggling to achieve high settings without frame issues.

In short I play on a standard Samsung HDTV at 1980 x 1080, looking to get the best bang for my bucks.. Question:
1) Do I need a new everything i.e. new build
2) Or can I get away with new case to hold a bigger GPU?

How are you managing with a 60GB SSD? Even with Temp folders and My Docs, Music, Pics etc all redirected to an HDD, I really struggled with 60GB for the OS, and had to go 128GB.

I'd say GPU is the main suspect for upgrading. If you can afford it, go for a mobo/CPU/RAM combo to do it justice too. This is excellent value for money: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/8pac...locked-quad-core-gaming-bundle-bu-050-as.html

With difficulty lol.. I have the operating system and nothing else barring standard apps.. so yeah agreed with upgrade for SSD

You really want to run games from your SSD too, to get the full benefit, so go for as big as you can afford. The prices keep tumbling as they get more popular.

Just upgrade your GPU and overclock that 2500k and you should pretty much be set for gaming. A new CPU may net you better minimum frames in a few games, but not by much. Average gaming fps shouldn't change much if you just upgrade your CPU.

Thanks for the response.. Im not sure if the case will support a 970 OR 980? I was thinking the same as in, its the GPU that will give me the gains.. and a better SSD?

Most 970's are about 25cm from what I've seen? Some are longer obv, but you get diddy versions like this:

Your power supply comes an issue as you go up the card ranges - more power requirements (in terms of draw and connectors)

Just get a decent cooler and a 390x better than the 970 3.5 GB lol

I also think the 970 uses less power. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It does use less power but also has less vram and costs more than a 390 plus it wont see as much performance gains in the future when vulcan and dx12 run the show eventually. I would go with a 390. Also the 390 has better idle power consumption.
