Help with PSU upgrade

1000w PSU not graphics card…….
@Tetras means that your system is low power, you don't need a 1kw psu and i agree. a 1kw psu is for systems running a 5080/5090 type graphics cards. a 750w psu is more than sufficient

i would get the: NZXT C750 PSU (£80, not sold at ocuk) only caveat is that this psu isnt atx 3.1 spec, so does not have the 12v2x6 connector for newer nvidia gpus

You stated in an earlier thread that you were running 4x16gb of RAM, is that still the case?

If so I'd try taking two sticks out and seeing if the crashes persist, although I'd expect you to have more issues than just Starfield.

Unless the psu has a fault I can't see that being the cause with such a low power consumption pc. It's not the best quality psu but you have a good 300w+ of spare capacity so it should easily power that with no problems.

Running four sticks of memory could be putting too much strain on the memory controller so try running a pair of sticks in the primary slots (A2+B2, grey ones) and try that. Run TestMem5 to see if you have any faults, either of the Anta777 presets should find if anything's amiss. You want to run it for at least a hour and thirty minutes.

I would also update to the latest motherboard bios. Make sure you select the correct one as there are multiple versions of your motherboard.

If you are still having problems download and run HWInfo64 and select sensors only when asked. Run it while playing a game that doesn't crash the pc. It will monitor all system temps, memory usage, cpu usage etc. Your motherboard has a row of chips next to the 8 pin EPS socket that has no cooling at all and it will probably show up as a row of VRM's in HWInfo64. It is possible that they are overheating although it would normally just throttle the pc not shut it down. Have a look and see if anything is getting very hot.
