I have an Enermax Galaxy 1000w PSU and after upgrading my graphics card to a 290x from a 6970 i've noticed the PSU fan get quite loud during gaming.

My PSU is about 7 years old now and it's given me a good run and it's still running strong but this fan noise is quite annoying.

What is a good PSU I can replace my one with, there are too many so I'm clueless what to go for?

Thanks

I don't plan to run two cards but would like to be future proof as current one is on 7 years now.

I'd like to go for a 850w. I have no budget just want the best available.

Trying to read reviews online, will look at the mentioned.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I forgot to mention I would like the PSU to have low fan noise and no coil whine. Is the EVGA good in regards to that?

Thanks

As your Galaxy 1KW must be out of warranty by now have you considered just opening her up and upgrading the fan? Would be significantly cheaper than a new PSU.

I haven't considered that but I think a new power supply will be better as the current one is really old and has multiple 12v rails with limited amps which might not be enough for newer hardware.

Just saw your edit, it's the 80mm one located in the rear. I could take it out and use it on a 2nd build machine.

If you do replace it then it's defiantly worth keeping for a second build, it was the Superflower LeadeX of it's day, only rated at 80Plus because that was the top spec then, it's almost Silver by modern standards.

Yes, i think it was the only high end PSU available at the time and it served me well.

Hi, this is a good choice :)
Our PSUs do now also benefit from our promotions, when you register the PSU to your EVGA Account you can then request Rise of the Triade at the promotion section. In case there is any question or concern about the product do not hesitate to contact us!

Thanks, I didn't know about this :D

I'll be sure to, thank you :)
