I have a level 2 in IT systems support my ambition is to work as a technician repairing and upgrading and networking for example in a school running a schools it systems i am unsure what qualifications i would need and what the price would be. what would the best microsoft qualifacation would be best and how much will it cost.

sorry for jabbering

I worked at a public school in IT for a few months, I had no formal qualifications but proved myself in the interview. The people I was working with bar the main admin were abysmal little to no clue about the systems.

They tend to get "engineers" in to actually network the school. The most you'd most likely be doing is ghosting laptops/iPads images and resetting passwords for students.

Obviously this is only based on a few months experience but I wouldn't do it again. Maybe I was just unlucky but it was so dull even a remedial monkey could have taken care of things.

As an ex IT NVQ Assessor a level 2 is loosely regarded as an equivalent to a GCSE A-C grade. A level 3 is equivalent to an A level.

Obviously a level 2 in IT support does not have a GCSE equivalent qualification.

The level 2 should be enough to either get your foot in the door of IT support or be a good entry basis to get you onto a higher qualification.

If you are under 18 you stand a good chance of gaining an apprenticeship, if 18-25 your chances reduce as the funding drops for your employer. Microsoft qualifications tend to need to be paid by you or an employer. They are something you can study yourself and then take the exams at your own cost.

I hate to say it but unless you are signed for a course before your 18th Birthday then somebody (you or an perspective employer) will need to pay for your education and exams.
