Help with RAID

At the moment I am currently running Vista Ultimate. I bought a 2nd HDD for storage but I have never gotten around to installing it. But now I want to switch to RAID 0 and install Win7.

I already have what I need backed up. I am wondering do i just set up the HDDs in RAID 0 then install Win7 or do I need to format my existing HDD that I am currently using before I set up RAID?

Creating the RAID0 array will wipe both disks so there's no need to format anything first. Just go ahead and setup the array in the RAID BIOS then install windows as normal.

You need an identical hdd in order to make a raid. just set Raid on the bios and run Raid setup after that. after that just boot to W7 setup.

While it's recommended, you don't need 2 identical drives. I used a 30GB and a 40GB in raid with no issues, it just came out as 60GB.
