Hello,

I know there is a Note 4 topic but i think this may be the same for all Samsungs.

Anyway;

I rooted then unrooted my Note 4.

It is but still showing as custom in 'about device'

i'd like to get it back to normal but keep the apps i deleted off the phone. I want to do this as i cannot update the firmware via software update any longer.

Any help?

Also, is there a way to change the boot animation? I have the 'O2' thing but i am not on o2 any longer

You may have unrooted but you still modified the stock ROM by removing a few system apps. Even if you do hide the "custom" part, the update will still fail as there are missing apps from the system part.

There is a way to change the boot animation, usually all it requires is a zip file that you flash via custom recovery. Check out XDA, they usually post custom boot animations under "Themes and Apps": http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps

Hello,

Thank you sir, i am honestly not fussed about the custom bit, i am guessing there is no way to remove that?

The only reason i wanted it gone is because i wanted lollypop and i check each day for updates but now i cannot update it nor see when it is available.

Thanks for boot, i shall look :-)

Might be best to ask in the Note 4 thread and XDA to see how to remove the custom part, a quick search shows there is a way but it seems a tad confusing on the steps you need to take.

Even then, even if the phone is then allowing you to update, chances are it will still fail as I said earlier, you removed some of the system apps.

I think it just puts the app back. I've had a custom rom that still allowed me to update with kies. think it was my s2.

Just find a minimal stock rom and flash that. It will be what you have now but lollipop (iif it's been made yet?)

I use neat rom On my s2 and s3 and it's basically that. All the bloat taken out and made into a new rom. He does do our roms as well but I don't mind stock
