When you put the disc in, if you go to 'my computer' and look at your drive icon, does it recognise that the disc is in the drive?

As Deific said, does your PC recognise the disc? Have you tried double clicking the DVD drive or even going into it and running the setup file?

I installed that game last week without any problems on win 7 64bit.

Have you tried installing it by launching the setup within the disc instead of using the autorun?

The laptop recognises the disc when i go into my computer, and ye i have even tried double clicking on setup to install it that way but then it just hangs, then goes to the extreme of my computer not responding or internet explorer not responding, it's wierd

See if you can copy the entire contents of the disc to a folder and run it from there. I have had this a few times in the past and doing this normally works.
