Help with sorting a website please!?

I've been looking into putting bulk images onto a site and making them available for licensensing/purchase. I'm thinking of trying to get a system set-up akin to the getty image viewer. (Thumbnails - when hovered you get a bigger picture and the caption). Search by event for car # etc.

I've never set-up up my own website before. The last one was a site a group of us used like an agency type thing and we FTP'd.

So I'm a total n00b to designing sites. Bearing this in mind can I have a little advice here...

So firstly, is there a site where I can buy a prebuilt site and they sort out hosting, domain names etc? (can I get a site where they host full size shots and send them out automatically? Only decent one I've found thus far is photoshelter...)

Secondly, if not, what is each component of each site and how much would I expect to pay for each bit I need to buy?

Thirdly, can I get site templates akin to a good image/caption viewer?

Finally, how do I go about getting a decent system of purchase going? Ideally, joe public could buy straight away & image editors could login and purchase the images before being invoiced at the end of the month etc...?

Also, anyone know where to start in terms of contacting people in journalism (magazines, sites etc.) and start getting some intrest on a site/just generally (that hopefully turn into purchases) of the work? [I've only ever done gigs/news/a small local match paid for]

Thanks for any help I can get,

p.s - I'm guessing the best events to start at are grassroots type stuff. (Regional motorsports)?

Do the same as me; buy a domain name from say reg123 and use a CMS tool such as Clikpic. Its seriously simple to setup and requires no web experience and seamlessly works with Paypal/Google checkout (whichever you prefer). The only downside is it costs £35 a year; although I don't thats too bad given it completly takes away the hassle. I can access the content from any machine with an internet connection too, and not require any specific web building tools; its all done online which makes it better still.

Looks much cheaper than photoshelter I was looking at ($330 p/a  )

EDIT: On second glance it would be £180 a year for me because it's sports images.

Just thinking here...

Step 1: Buy a domain [Reg123 - about £5 or whatever?]

Step 2: Sort out something to upload [CMS is the ideal way for me to go as a n00b who needs constant easy acess to uploading/orgainising right? - Could I use Zenphoto/Pixelpost etc.]

Step 3: Get the webspace for above?

Not sure if this is any help, but i'm with Surpass who have Fantastico installed (i'm sure many other web hosts provide this) but it allows you to instantly install a vast array of web scripts -- such as CMS systems. Again, not sure if these are of any use but I just quickly logged in to see what they offer:

Drupal
Geeklog
Joomla 1.5
Joomla
Mambo
PHP-Nuke
phpWCMS
phpWebSite
Siteframe
TYPO3
Xoops
Zikula

I have no experience with any of these, but they are free - so will atleast keep costs down - worth a look imo :) As long as it can integrate with Galleries/uploading images from any computer with an internet connection and a checkout system.

Edit; extensions for Joomla: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/photos-a-images
