In my computer right now I have a Samsung 128GB 840 PRO and a crappy 150GB HDD I ripped out of an old computer. My friend bought a Seagate SSHD and I was looking into that at one point but I have always wanted a 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black. Then I thought to myslef can I make myself a SSHD from these two hard drives. Ran into Intel Smart Response Technology. I understand that the SSD becomes a cache and you cannot actively install things onto it, my two hard drives will effectively become one. I also understand 128GB is a silly large cache so I was wondering if I partition my SSD into two halfs can I keep all my OS and essentials one half and use the other half as a cache for the HDD. Finally I understand your motherboard has to be compatible with Intel SRT, my motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H, is this compatible?

Will this crazy idea work?
